TikTok Monetization

TikTok Monetization Requirements in 2026

TikTok has several ways to pay creators in 2026, but each one has its own follower count, view threshold, age rule, and account standing requirements. This guide lays out every monetization program available to US creators, what you need to qualify, and how to check whether your account is ready.

If you have been on TikTok long enough to think about earning from it, you have probably hit the same wall everyone hits: the app mentions “monetization” in half a dozen places, but each program has different thresholds, different rules, and different payouts — and very little of it is explained in one place. This guide does that. Every current TikTok monetization program available to US creators in 2026, the exact requirements for each, and a clear way to check whether you qualify right now.

TikTok Creator Fund Requirements

This is where most confusion starts, because the Creator Fund that launched in 2020 no longer exists. TikTok retired the original Creator Fund in late 2023 and replaced it with the Creator Rewards Program — a view-based payout system built around longer content. If you see older guides referencing “the Creator Fund,” they are talking about a program that has been shut down.

The Creator Rewards Program that replaced it has the following requirements in 2026:

Two things trip creators up. First, the 100,000-view requirement is usually the harder bar to clear, not the follower count. An account with 15,000 followers that has a slow posting month can easily dip below the view threshold and temporarily lose access. Second, the program pays per qualified view — views on original videos over one minute that meet TikTok's content standards — so not every view on your profile translates into Rewards income. For a detailed look at what creators actually earn at different follower tiers, our guide on how much TikTok pays creators breaks down realistic 2026 US ranges.

The view threshold is typically the harder bar to maintain month over month. For a focused look at how many views you actually need, which views count toward the threshold, and what each tier of views earns, see our guide on how many views to get paid on TikTok.

TikTok Creativity Program Beta

The Creativity Program Beta launched in early 2023 as TikTok's answer to the complaint that the original Creator Fund paid too little. It shares the same eligibility requirements as the Creator Rewards Program — 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in 30 days, 18+, eligible region — but pays a meaningfully higher rate per qualified view, sometimes reported at two to three times the base Rewards rate.

The catch: the Creativity Program Beta is not open to everyone who meets those thresholds. In 2026, it operates on an invitation-and-application basis. You can check whether the program is available to you in Creator tools inside the TikTok app (more on that in the eligibility section below). If you see it listed, you can apply. If it does not appear, your account either has not been selected or does not yet qualify.

Because both programs share the same entry thresholds, you do not have to choose one — you enroll in whichever is available to you, and if you are accepted into the Creativity Program Beta it typically replaces the standard Rewards payout with the higher rate. The content rules are the same: original videos, longer than one minute, posted to a personal (not business) account.

LIVE Gifts & Diamonds

LIVE monetization is the first payout route most creators actually unlock, because the threshold is dramatically lower than the Rewards programs.

During a LIVE stream, viewers can send virtual gifts. Those gifts are converted into Diamonds, which are TikTok's internal currency for creators. Diamonds can then be cashed out for real money — TikTok takes a percentage, and the remainder goes to your linked payout method. The conversion rate and TikTok's cut have varied over time, but in 2026 creators typically receive somewhere around 50 percent of the gift value after the platform fee.

The income from LIVE Gifts is unpredictable and heavily depends on building a regular streaming habit. Creators who go LIVE at the same time each week with a consistent format tend to build a gifting audience; one-off streams rarely generate meaningful income. If you are still working toward the 1,000-follower threshold for LIVE access, our full guide on TikTok Live requirements covers the exact steps to get there.

TikTok Shop Requirements

TikTok Shop is TikTok's built-in e-commerce layer, and it has two sides with different requirements.

Affiliate (promoting other sellers' products)

The affiliate side has no follower minimum to get started. You browse the TikTok Shop affiliate marketplace, pick products, feature them in your videos, and earn a commission on every sale that comes through your link or tagged product. This is the monetization route that is genuinely open to small accounts — a creator with 500 followers and a tight niche in budget tech or skincare can earn affiliate commissions from day one.

Some affiliate features and higher commission tiers become available as your account grows. Creators with 1,000 or more followers may see expanded product access and additional promotional tools. But the entry bar for basic affiliate participation is as low as it gets on the platform.

Seller (running your own shop)

If you want to sell your own products through TikTok Shop, the requirements are different and more involved:

There is no strict follower minimum to open a seller shop, but your reach and sales velocity will obviously depend on how many people see your product videos. Creators who plan to sell their own products often find it more effective to build an audience first through affiliate promotion and then transition to their own shop once they have traction.

Minimum Followers & Views Needed

Here is the full picture on one screen — every current TikTok monetization program, its follower threshold, view requirement, age rule, and any other conditions, current as of mid-2026 for US creators.

Program Followers Views Age Other
Creator Rewards Program 10,000 100,000 views in 30 days 18+ US or eligible region, good standing, personal account
Creativity Program Beta 10,000 100,000 views in 30 days 18+ Invitation or application required, original content over 1 min
LIVE Gifts & Diamonds 1,000 None 16+ to go LIVE, 18+ to send or receive gifts Account in good standing
TikTok Shop (seller) No minimum to join affiliate None 18+ Some seller features require 1,000+ followers; US business docs for own shop
Creator Marketplace ~10,000 (varies by region) Varies 18+ Matched with brands through TikTok's official platform

The pattern is clear: 10,000 followers is the gate to the view-based payout programs (Creator Rewards and Creativity Program Beta), 1,000 followers gets you into LIVE monetization, and affiliate commerce has no follower requirement at all. Brand deals through the Creator Marketplace generally start around 10,000 followers, though this varies by region and campaign.

It is worth noting that follower quality matters as much as the count. The 100,000-view requirement on the Rewards programs is designed to filter out accounts with inflated follower numbers and low actual engagement. A smaller, genuinely engaged audience clears the view bar more reliably than a large, passive one. If you are working toward the 10,000-follower threshold, the most productive approach is to focus on watch-time and engagement rate alongside raw growth. And if you want to boost your TikTok follower count to accelerate your path to eligibility, make sure the growth is paired with content that keeps those viewers watching.

How to Check Your Eligibility

TikTok does not send you an email when you become eligible for a monetization program. You have to check manually, and the process is straightforward.

Step 1: Check your follower count and view stats

Open TikTok and go to your profile. Your follower count is displayed at the top. To see your 30-day view count, tap the three-line menu in the top right, then go to Creator tools > Analytics > Overview. The overview tab shows your total video views for the last 7, 28, or 60 days. You need 100,000 views within a 30-day window for the Rewards programs.

Step 2: Look for monetization options in Creator tools

From the same three-line menu, tap Creator tools. If you meet the requirements for any monetization program, it will appear here. Common options include:

Step 3: Apply or enroll

For programs that require enrollment (Creator Rewards, Creativity Program Beta), tap the option in Creator tools and follow the application steps. TikTok reviews your account and typically responds within a few days. For LIVE access, there is no application — the feature simply unlocks once you cross 1,000 followers. For TikTok Shop affiliate, you can start browsing and selecting products immediately through the Shop tab.

If nothing shows up

If you do not see monetization options in Creator tools, the most common reasons are:

Switch to a Personal account (if you are on Business), clear any outstanding violations, and continue building views. TikTok re-evaluates eligibility on a rolling basis — once you meet the thresholds, the options will appear without you needing to reapply.

The short version

TikTok monetization in 2026 is not a single switch — it is five or six switches, each with its own threshold. The Creator Rewards Program and Creativity Program Beta both require 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days. LIVE Gifts open at 1,000 followers. TikTok Shop affiliate links have no follower minimum. Brand campaigns through the Creator Marketplace generally start around 10,000. You can check your eligibility any time in Creator tools, and TikTok re-evaluates on a rolling basis as your numbers change. The single most practical thing you can do is focus on watch-time and engagement alongside follower growth — because the view threshold, not the follower count, is the requirement that quietly blocks most accounts from qualifying. If you also create on Instagram, our companion guide to the Instagram monetization requirements covers the equivalent thresholds on that platform — including Gifts on Reels, which opens at just 500 followers. And if YouTube is part of your strategy, the YouTube monetization requirements guide covers the 1,000-sub + 4,000-watch-hour rule and the Shorts alternative path.
